New Civic and Shire Administration Centre
Shire welcomes Woolworths approval
President, Cr Ray Colyer, has welcomed Council’s approval of the Woolworths development application as it will strengthen Margaret River’s retail heart, increase shopping choice for residents, keep more money in the Shire which is now spent elsewhere and provide over 200 additional parking bays. It is also strategically located 110 metres from the main street and midway along the length of the main street which makes other shops accessible by foot from the proposed development.”

Augusta Small Boat Harbour - Flat Rock
$25 million for Augusta Boat Harbour
On Tuesday, 2 August 2011 the State Government announced funding for a new $25 million boat harbour at Augusta with construction due to start later this year.
The Shire has been working in partnership with the Department of Transport for several years to obtain approvals and funding for the harbour, to be built at Flat Rock in Flinders Bay, leading the planning and consultation process and collaborating in the site assessment, the preparation of applications for Federal and State environmental approvals and the preparation of a business case for funding. The Shire is currently coordinating the preparation of fire management, waste management plans and the construction of the access road for the site
The harbour will provide safe direct ocean access for recreational and commercial craft between Busselton and Albany and service the region’s commercial and tourism fleets while providing a regional and state destination point for the recreational boating sector.
The project funded through the Royalties for Regions program will be constructed by the Department of Transport, includes the construction of two breakwaters to create a protected harbour basin featuring four boat launching ramps, boat pens for up to approximately 50 craft when fully developed, a fixed 40 metre service jetty, approximately 160 car/trailer parking bays and 90car parking bays.
